Riveredge Community Watch Association Meeting

 

Riveredge Community Block Captains met Tuesday November 5th. It was agreed that Block Captains will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM at Mike and Sheila Azar's home, 105 Riveredge Parkway. Block Captain meetings will be open to Riveredge Community residents who would like to attend, Parliamentary rules will be in effect.

Your Block Captains are: Jim and Marianna Barrett, Alton and Janice Boyd, David and Lisa Hogg, Mike and Paula Gardner, Jack and Linda Holmes, Steve and Kristen Thompson, Mark and Emily Shiver, Bart and Jane Norton, Ed and Diane Enloe, and Mike and Sheila Azar.

During the next several weeks your Block Captains will be knocking on your door to share new information concerning our Community Watch program, please share a moment to say hello and learn more about important community up-dates.

At the November 5th Block Captain meeting a proposed Riveredge Community Mission Statement was promulgated:

Riveredge Community Watch Association's mission is to engender a sense of community and a family-friendly neighborhood by assisting community members promote various programs supporting a safe crime free environment. In addition Riveredge Community Association supports a clean and aesthetically pleasing neighborhood environment that will work to maintain the value of the individual home owners' investment.

Other elements of discussion at the November 5th meeting were:

          1. Petition for removal of speed humps on Riveredge Parkway: Block captains submitted additional signatures to ratify this proposal. I addition the street will be re-stripped, and neighborhood watch notification signage will be posted.

          2. Discussion of various neighborhood Committees: It was agreed neighborhood committees on Beautification, Social, Security, Finance and others would be advantageous. Your Block Captain will be seeking volunteers, and it was agreed that Committees discussion would be an item at the next Block Captain meeting scheduled for Tuesday December 3rd.

          3. Hands on gun safety and training schedule:  Trinity Defense Firearms Training is offering Riveredge Community residents a day of training, Saturday November 23rd. A separate announcement explaining the training and cost is being prepared and you will have it shortly.

          4. Riveredge Community Camera Surveillance Program: Mike Azar has access to several surveillance camera manufacturers and will be exploring various features and benefits for presentation to the community. The Dothan Police Community Watch Program endorses use of surveillance cameras and we will be exploring the various details. If this project is deemed viable, surveillance camera information will be presented for discussion at a special homeowners meeting in early 2014.
